The duck race is on

— Rain postponed the Annual Sparta Day Event in May and, implausible as it may seem, the rain was too much for the ducks. Sparta Day will be held at Station Park next month on September 23 and the World Famous Sparta Duck Race is on! Once again excited crowds will be lining the banks of the mighty Wallkill River to cheer the progress of the duck they purchased last Spring. The ducks have rested all Summer and are rarin' to go. All ducks purchased before the postponement are still eligible to claim the winner's laurels, and the cash prizes that goes with it. The really good news is that late comers need not be left out. The Duck Sale is still on. Buy your Duck from a Kiwanian or at Sparta Day in time for the traditional bugle call that will herald the float-off. Just like the copycat race at Churchill Downs, the "Kenducky Derby" at Sparta will pay off for Win, Place and Show.
