— For the last five years, the Saint Leonides Columbian Squires Circle #5177 from Saint Kateri parish has continued their ongoing efforts to help the homeless.

Each year the young men from the Sparta circle help three area charities with proceeds gained from the annual Luminary sales. Over this five year period the Squires have raised over $16,000 to help Family Promise, the Samaritan Inn and the Sparta Food Pantry.

At a recent meeting, the Squire co-captains Ed Weaver and Ben Insley presented a check to Pamela Ryerson, Executive Director of Family Promise of Sussex County. Ryerson spoke to a group of Squires and Squire Roses on how these types of donations make a meaningful difference for needy families in the area.

Saint Kateri Pastor Father Patrick Rice said, “Our Squires and Roses have dedicated countless hours to ensure this project was a major success.”
