Local scholar going to presidential inauguration

Green Township resident Kevin Cooke, a freshman at Lehigh University and 2008 National Honor Society graduate of Newton High School, has been invited and will attend the historic inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama as a participant in the University Presidential Inaugural Conference. Cooke intends to major in astrophysics with a minor in political science. He previously attended the National Youth Leadership Forum focusing on National Security in Washington, DC and as a result received the inaugral invitation. He has also traveled to Australia as a People to People Student Ambassador. While studying at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Cooke works in the Study Abroad Department and plans to return to Australia for a semester in the future.
