Volunteer for the Sparta Ambulance Squad

| 19 Dec 2019 | 06:12

Sparta Ambulance Squad could always use more volunteer members aged 16 and above. There are multiple roles and ways in which volunteers can help.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

This includes committing to become a NJ State Department of Health certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). Certification can be pursued once your service with SAS has begun. Training taken outside the organization, including the initial EMT certification, is reimbursed after successful completion. Ongoing training is provided in house when possible.

Cadet

The cadet program is geared toward junior members starting at age 16. It introduces the young volunteer to EMS experience while closely mentored by senior members.

Ambulance Driver

Training includes operation of an emergency vehicle, basic CPR, as well as how to assist EMT members in lifting, moving, equipment identification/retrieval and patient transport.

Associate Member

This role does not include responding to the aid of patients but still allows use of talents such as maintenance, business administration, finance, publicity, technology, or event planning.
