School supplies drive underway to help Moldovan children
Sparta Brendan McInerney, who will be traveling to Moldova as an English teacher with the Peace Corps, is currently holding a school supplies drive at the Sparta High School until the end of the school year. A graduate of Rutgers University, McInerney will be traveling to Moldova, an eastern European country located between Romania and Ukraine. He will be living there for the next two years and three months as an English teacher and Peace Corps volunteer. Moldova is the poorest country in Europe and therefore the schools are lacking in supplies. The fundraiser’s goal is to collect schools supplies for those students that will be taught by Peace Corps volunteers. Mari McInerney, a senior at Sparta High School and Brendan’s sister is organizing the drive. Donations are being sought for pens and pencils, colored pencils, crayons, construction paper, markers, glue, notebooks, highlighters, safety scissors and craft supplies Call McInerney at 973-610-9887 or e-mail tomcnrny@gmail.com to learn more.
