Charging into their eighth consecutive win last night over Morris Hills, the Spartans have again surged to the top as 2019 NJSFC Patriot Blue Division Champions.
Sweeping their home field on the coldest night of the season, the Spartans remained unscored upon and delivered an exciting and fast game of Friday night football, showing they've earned their latest title. Phenom-Freshman QB Austen Frattura delivered again with a total of 273 passing yards, completing an impressive 21 of 34 passes, while Senior RB Austin Castorina flexed and carried the ball for 125 rushing yards on 26 carries, plus four catches and 53 more yards, with both Spartans scoring a touchdown.
Tyler Szabo showed speed and agility as he received the ball five times for a total 83 yards, and Brendan Cina is proving himself to be one to watch, with his 2 touchdowns after connecting 7 times and carrying the ball for a total of 64 yards. Thunder Kicker Vinny DeSimone was perfect, splitting the uprights for all 4 extra points.
Despite skilled plays, the knights came up empty handed and retreated toward the end of the 4th quarter, letting the clock run out, confirming the win and Championship title for Sparta, with a final score of 28-0.
The Spartans are currently seed 1 of North 2- Group 3 and will host Nutley this Friday night in their first play off game, with their eyes locked on the State Championship game at the end of November.
