Milanesi gets 1,000th point as junior point guard
SPARTA. Evan Milanesi has been a three-year starter at Veritas Christian Academy.
Evan Milanesi of Veritas Christian Academy in Sparta scored his 1,000th point on Thursday, Feb. 2 in a basketball game against Abundant Life Academy.
The junior point guard, who has led the team in scoring this season and last season, has been a three-year starter.
His 1,000th point came at the free-throw line, where even as a freshman he has been the team’s best shooter at the charity stripe.
Milanesi is the first 1,000-point scorer for the Veritas boys varsity team since Ethan Mulder achieved it in 2020. He is the third in his family to reach that mark; his older siblings, Chloe and Charlotte, broke the 1,000-point mark during their careers at Veritas as well.
Evan Milanesi also leads the team in rebounds, assists and steals. The Veritas boys team has a 14-6 record.
In a school that has fewer than 60 students, the basketball teams have always been competitive, finishing as runner-up in their division at the NCSAA National Tournament last season.
This year, the boys varsity team has defeated schools 10 times Veritas’s size, with notable wins over Parsippany and High Point Regional high schools.
