MATAMORAS, Pa. — A new radio-controlled race car track opened July 4 at Airport Park in Matamoras, Pa.

Serious hobbyists as well as newbies came from New York and Pennsylvania to try out the new 100- by-100-foot dirt track.

The radio controlled vehicles kicked up dirt and flew around the track.

"This is a great addition to the park and we hope to put Matamoras back on the map as a great family fun destination," said a jubilant Chris Graham, who along with his partner John Fernandez and the Matamoras Recreation Department, made this dream come true.

Park rules make it a safe environment for children of all ages, with zero tolerance for bad behavior such as bad language and bullying. It is also a smoke-free park.

Construction of the race car track area was made possible by the donated time and equipment from Tom Greiner Excavation of Milford, Pa., and May Brothers Landscaping of Shohola, Pa. "Without their volunteer work, this wouldn't have happened," said Graham.
