Hailey Clarke of Pope John XXIII Regional High School in Sparta has agreed to play softball at Skidmore College next year.

She was one of nearly 50 high school athletes honored at the ninth annual Signing Day celebration March 2 at Zoned Sports Academy, a baseball and softball developmental training academy in Bridgewater.

In front of 247 guests, each athlete walked the red carpet to pledge to their college of choice.

“We’re thrilled to host our ninth annual Signing Day event to honor these talented student athletes,” said Duke Baxter, owner of Zoned Sports Academy and a former professional baseball player. “Their achievements are a testament to their hard work, dedication and passion for their sport, and this is a very special night for the students and their families.”

In addition to signing a letter of intent, each student-athlete received a certificate of excellence, a framed jersey representing their high school and the college they will be attending, and posed for pictures.

“Aside from athletic excellence, our goal at Zoned Sports Academy is to help every student grow as an individual, succeed academically and get the tools they need for the next chapter of their lives,” said Baxter. “They become part of the Zoned family and we’re very proud to see them move on to college.”
