Sussex County Community College (SCCC) will add golf to its athletic programs starting with the 2025-26 academic year.

The Skylanders golf team will be open to men and women.

SCCC now offers sports programs in men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, esports, wrestling, baseball, football, softball, men’s lacrosse and women’s volleyball.

”We are thrilled to introduce golf to our athletic programs and provide students with the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level,” said Told Poltersdorf, associate dean of athletes.

“Golf is a sport that combines physical skill with mental discipline, and we believe it will be a great fit for our Skylanders student-athletes.”

The new program will focus on developing players’ skills on and off the course, emphasizing teamwork, dedication and academic success.

”Building a competitive and inclusive golf team will be the first step in the process,” Poltersdorf said. “This is an excellent opportunity for students to challenge themselves while representing the college.”

Golf practices and competitions will take place at local courses. The team will compete against other regional community colleges.
