Sparta brothers place second in golf tournaments
SPARTA — Jimmy Apostolico 13, and his brother Vincent Apostolico, 10, of Sparta, both placed second in the Rutgers Open Junior Golf Tournament. Jimmy shot the three day tournament low round of 75 in his age group and his brother, Vincent, placed second in the younger, 8-10 year old group.
This season, Jimmy also finished second in the NJPGA Junior Golf Tournament at Essex County Golf Course in the 12-18 year old division with a score of 74 and had top 10 finishes at tournaments held at other New Jersey courses including Basking Ridge, Newton and Architects in the same NJPGA 12-18 age group.
Younger brother Vincent had another second place finish at the Minerals Masters shooting a nine hole score of 35 and also earned a fifth place finish at Bunker Hill.
Oldest brother, Tommy Apostolico, age 15, golfed this year for the Sparta High School Varsity Golf Team and also had numerous top ten finishes in multiple NJPGA summer tournaments.
The brothers play at their home golf course, Newton Golf Club and also at Lely Golf Resort, Naples, Florida, during the winter months. All are students at the Riehl Golf Academy in Whippany, and will be competing in various NJPGA, IMG and AJGA golf tournaments throughout the fall and winter.
