— Players from the varsity girls and boys teams from Our Lady of the Lake Church in Sparta recently competed in a year-end scrimmage.

The friendly competition took place Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Reverend Brown gym in Sparta. Although the boys won, the girls were very competitive and the game helped them prepare for the Upper Morris County League Championship game Feb. 23 in Mount Olive. The OLL girls' varsity team defeated Saint Luke's 56-52 to win the title in that game.

Many players have participated in the CYO program of the Paterson Diocese since fourth grade. The players hope to continue their basketball careers at their respective high schools next year, including Sparta High School, Pope John XXIII Regional High School, Lenape Valley High School and High Point High School.
