June 23 Douglas Umstead, age 34, of Budd Lake, pled guilty to the third degree crime of shoplifting. He is scheduled for sentencing on August 8. He admitted that on May 17, he removed a miter saw from the shelf at Lowe’s in Hampton and attempted to obtain a refund for it. Brian Crowe, age 29, of Highland Lakes, pled guilty to the third degree crime of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He is scheduled for sentencing on July 14. He admitted to possessing two bags of heroin on February 7 when Vernon Police Officer D. Young responded to his home regarding the defendant having overdosed on heroin. Alex Abrahamsen, age 48, of Rockaway Township, pled guilty to the third degree crime of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He is scheduled for sentencing on July 14. He admitted to possessing a small amount of cocaine in Frankford Township on April 12. June 25 David S. Evicci, age 20, of Highland Lakes and Adam Curry, age 19, of Highland Lakes were charged with two counts of burglary, third degree crimes and two counts of theft, both also third degree crimes. The case was investigated by Vernon Police Department. On March 23 Evicci and Curry allegedly entered a building at Mountain Creek Ski Resort and took property belong to the resort and an employee of the resort. David S. Evicci, age 20, of Highland Lakes was charged with shoplifting, a third degree crime. The case was investigated by Vernon Police Department. It is alleged that on January 29, Evicci took a Burton Snowboard worth $600 that was on display at The District Store located at the Mountain Creek South Ski Resort. David S. Evicci, age 20, of Highland Lakes was indicted with attempted burglary, a third degree crime, and resisting arrest, a third degree crime. The case was investigated by Vernon Police Department. It is alleged that on April 30, Vernon Police Department received a telephone report that Evicci and another male were attempting to enter the Highland Lakes General Store. When police arrived on the scene the two fled into the wetlands to avoid apprehension. While being apprehended, Evicci is alleged to have physically resisted arrest. The other individual was charged with juvenile delinquency. A grand jury indictment is a charge only. The defendant is presumed innocent until guilt may be proved at a jury trial. An indictment names David S. Evicci, age 20, of Highland Lakes, Thomas F. Miller, age 21, of Highland Lakes, Glen C. Talmadge, age 21, of Wantage, Caitlin A. Borras, age 20, of Wantage, Veronica L. Flood, age 21, of Wantage, Joshua S. Carrera, age 22, of Branchville and Fabian E. Coello, age 19, of Passaic as defendants. Each defendant is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary, a second degree crime, robbery, a first degree crime, burglary, a second degree crime, aggravated assault, a second degree crime, aggravated assault, a third degree crime, possession of weapons for unlawful purpose, a second degree crime, possession of weapons for unlawful purpose, a third degree crime and unlawful possession of weapons, a fourth degree crime. The case was investigated by the New Jersey State Police. A Grand Jury indictment is a charge only. The defendants are presumed innocent until guilt may be proved at a jury trial. Cagney Moog, age 22, of Sparta, pled guilty to the third degree crime of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, driving while intoxicated and the disorderly persons offense of possession of drug paraphernalia. He is scheduled for sentencing on July 21. He admitted possessing 14 bags of heroin in Byram on April 11 following a motor vehicle stop by Byram Police Officer Daniel DeWald, and that he had ingested heroin and marijuana while operating his motor vehicle. He also admitted to possessing an empty bag of heroin on June 23 which was discovered by Sussex County Sheriff’s Detective Michael Yanko after the defendant was remanded to the county jail. June 26 Jeffrey J. Roman, age 24, of Boonton, was sentenced to four years in state prison. Roman was given 131 days jail credit. He must pay $2,313.14 in restitution to the Victims of Crime Compensation Agency, and have no contact with the victim. Penalties and assessments totaling $380 were also imposed. Roman pled guilty on May 19 to aggravated assault and possession of a knife with purpose to use unlawfully against the person of another, both third degree crimes, and simple assault, a disorderly persons offense. On February 16, in a dispute at the Tidal Wave Bar in the Borough of Hopatcong, Roman caused bodily injury to Pasquale Ciccone with a deadly weapon, a knife. Nicholas Spineto, age 22, formerly of Sussex, pled guilty to the second degree crime of distribution of more than one half ounce of cocaine. He is scheduled for sentencing on August 8. He admitted that on two dates in April, 2007, and two in May, 2007, he either distributed cocaine or possessed with the intent to distribute cocaine which in the aggregate weighed more than one half ounce. June 27 Jack C. Marinov, age 26, formerly of Newton, New Jersey, was sentenced to three years probation, which will be transferred to Monmouth County, and was ordered to serve ten days in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility. His driving privileges were suspended for 30 months, he must obtain and maintain gainful employment, and he must submit to random urine screenings. He must pay total fines and penalties of $2,238 and submit a DNA sample at his expense. He pled guilty on May 6 to possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a third degree crime, and to the motor vehicle violation of driving while suspended. He admitted to possessing heroin on June 11, 2006 in Sparta and that his driving privileges had been suspended when he was stopped for a motor vehicle violation by Sparta Police Officer Frank Schomp. Melissa M. Howe, age 31, of Vernon, New Jersey, was sentenced to three years probation, was ordered to serve 30 days in the Sheriff’s Labor Assistance Program and perform 100 hours of community service. Her driving privileges were suspended for six months and she must continue intensive outpatient therapy and submit to random urine screenings. She must pay total fines and penalties of $2,805 and submit a DNA sample at her expense. She pled guilty on May 19 to three counts of obtaining a prescription legend drug by fraud, all fourth degree crimes. She admitted that on January 9, January 10 and January 13, she obtained the prescription legend drug Ultram by fraudulently calling in prescriptions for herself to pharmacies in Franklin and Hamburg. June 30 Raeanne M. Abrigo, age 24, of Kenvil, New Jersey, was sentenced to 41 days in the Keogh Dwyer Correctional Facility and was given credit for 40 days served. Her driving privileges were suspended for six months and she must pay total fines and penalties of $658. She pled guilty on June 30 to hindering apprehension, a disorderly persons offense, and the motor vehicle violation of driving while suspended. During a motor vehicle stop in Sparta on May 20, she repeatedly gave officers a false name, ultimately providing her real name after being arrested and taken to the police station for further questioning. Michael J. Medici, age 21, of Milford, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to 18 months probation, to be supervised in Morris County, was ordered to serve 30 days in the Sheriff’s Labor Assistance Program, must maintain gainful employment, submit to random urine screenings, and submit to a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations made. He must pay total fines and penalties of $155 and submit a DNA sample at his expense. His bail was exonerated. He pled guilty on May 19, 2008 to tampering with evidence, a fourth degree crime. He admitted to attempting to destroy two small bags of marijuana by trying to flush them down a toilet while in a holding cell at the Sparta Police Department on January 12. Eduardo Villalona, age 20 of Stanhope, was sentenced to one day in jail, 100 hours of community service and one year probation. He must also pay $1000 in restitution and obtain employment. In addition, he must submit his DNA to the court and pay court costs. Villalona pled guilty on May 12 to third degree fraudulent use of a credit card. He admitted to using a stolen Discover credit card at the Hampton WalMart to purchase goods. Jonathan Volpe, age 19, of Frankford, pled guilty to two counts of third degree accomplice liability for burglary and one count of third degree receiving stolen property. He is scheduled for sentencing on August 8. He admitted to driving another individual to homes in Frankford and Wantage for the purpose burglarizing them and that he received a projector from the Frankford Elementary School knowing that it was stolen. Rachel Courter, age 23, of Montague, pled guilty to the fourth degree crime of shoplifting and the third degree crime of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. She is scheduled for sentencing on August 8. She admitted shoplifting DVD’s from Wal-Mart in Hampton Township on February 2, 2007. She also admitted to possessing 35 bags of heroin in Frankford Township on February 4, 2007. July 1 Andre Edwards, age 29, of formerly of Allentown, PA was sentenced to probation for a period of two years. As a condition of Edward’s probation he was sentenced to serve 361 days in the Keough-Dwyer Correctional Facility. Edwards was also ordered to undergo and follow the recommendations of a domestic violence evaluation. He was also ordered to pay $155 in monetary penalties. He pled guilty on June 17 to unlawful possession of a firearm, a third degree crime and unlawful possession of hollow nose bullets, a fourth degree crime. Edwards admitted to the court that on or about July 7, 2007, he was in possession of a .32 caliber Beretta handgun without first having obtained a permit to carry and possession of hollow nose bullets when the Newton Police Department responded to a domestic violence dispute. Anthony Waldron, age 34, of Newton, entered a guilty plea to two accusations charging him with the fourth degree charge of violating the terms of his Community Supervision For Life. Waldron, a previously convicted sex offender, was ordered by the court to comply with the terms of Community Supervision for Life. Waldron admitted to the court that between November 21, 2007 and March 19, 2008, and again on May 5, 2008 he had violated the terms of his Community Supervision for Life by failing to obey laws, by failing to report to his parole officer, and by failing to refrain from the purchase, use or possession of CDS. Waldron is scheduled to be sentenced August 8. July 2 A juvenile pled guilty on July 2, to third degree distribution of imitation CDS. He was adjudicated a juvenile delinquent by the court. The juvenile, age 18, was sentenced to 16 days jail with credit for 16 days already served and six-month loss of driver’s license. He must also submit a DNA sample and pay $1070 in court fines. In January he was caught selling an imitation CDS that he said was cocaine. He was 17 at the time.
