Sussex Tech Turf Team takes second place
Sussex County Technical School Landscape and Design Technology students placed second in the New Jersey State FFA Career Development Event, which took place on Nov. 16 at Cook College of Rutgers University, in New Brunswick. FFA chapters from all over the state compete in this event, which consists of a general knowledge exam, turf equipment identification, assessment and solution of problems, turf care estimation, turf weed identification, disease identification, pest identification, and turf site evaluation. Pictured are (from left) Sussex Tech’s Turfgrass Science and Management Team: Justin Lewandowski of Newton, Matt French of Hamburg, Mike Conti of Hopatcong, and Rob Watts of Wantage. French was the highest scorer on the team, taking second place overall in the competition, missing first place by a mere half-point.
