Do the right thing

There is no other organization more deserving of its good name than the Salvation Army. I was thinking of that while at their Dover office picking up the bells and red kettles that magically appear during the holiday season. My conversation with Captain Valverde prompted this letter.
The Salvation Army has been hit hard by the several store closings and the internet shopping that has become the new normal. They are simply running out of locations for their kettles. Think about it for a moment. A major source of revenue is drying up while their commitment to helping our neighbors is constant.
For me, the holiday season isn't the holiday season until I drop something into one of their buckets. This year I'm gonna to drop a little extra. So, when we all hear the bells, and see those ubiquitous red pots around town, let's all stand up a little taller this season for the organization that has always done the right thing by us.
The Salvation Army remains a powerful beacon of hope in a troubled world. They need our help So, in my best Bronx accent, I am exhorting everyone to remember to "Just do the right thing" for them this season.
