The annual Sussex County Farm & Horse Show,
Once held at Selective’s grounds in Branchville long ago.
Renamed the New Jersey State Fair for eastern residents,
Now at the Augusta fairgrounds this event to augment.
People from our urban cities come to see,
And mingle with rural county folk in harmony.
Nine comradely days of fun and education,
For a civility of peaceful integration.
Diverse language, dress, customs and demeanor as envoys,
With six tutor “Areas” and the carnival each enjoys.
Everyone in appreciation of cows and horses,
Sheep, pigs, rabbits, goats and llama tour-de-forces.
The fair an escape from daily adversity,
For all an occasion of exciting camaraderie.
