My husband and I moved to Sparta 22 years ago. The main reason was the incredible school system that Sparta maintained - a system that members of the Board of Education (BOE) can directly affect.
I think it’s time we stopped electing unqualified candidates and focused on ones who advocate for all children’s education, not just their own personal agenda.
I’m excited to share my support for Mr. Daniel O’Malley, who is running for the BOE with three other fathers on the Make Schools Great slate.
As a dedicated advocate for educational excellence in our community, Dan has a proven track record of prioritizing the needs of all students with extensive experience and an unwavering commitment to our special-education students. This is an area in our school system that has been under duress for a long time now.
He understands the importance of qualified leadership to focus on student success rather than personal agendas. Dan’s vision includes fostering collaboration among educators, parents and community members.
He aims to ensure that resources are allocated effectively, promoting programs that benefit every child. It’s crucial that we elect leaders who will champion quality education for all and work tirelessly to maintain the high standards that make our school system exceptional.
Since I have known Dan, he has been an important part of the Spartan community. He has volunteered for many years three to four times a week as a Sparta Youth Football (SYF) coach.
I’ve watched as he instilled integrity, teamwork and self-esteem for the young players. As they aged out of SYF, I now see Dan at the Sparta High School games, just to cheer them on.
He is a dedicated community member who consistently participates in local fundraisers organized by the Elks Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. These events not only support various charitable causes but also foster a sense of camaraderie among residents.
Additionally, he regularly attends meetings of the Town Council, Planning Board and BOE, where he engages in discussions about local governance, urban planning and educational initiatives, ensuring that he remains informed and involved in shaping his community’s future.
I’ve witnessed firsthand the positive impact that a committed BOE can have on educational standards. It’s critical that we carefully assess candidates based on their experience, vision for education and commitment to our community’s values.
Dan O’Malley is a strong leader who genuinely cares about our children’s education and well-being. He is a devoted father of four and deeply committed to enhancing the educational experience of our children.
He is eager to devote more of his time and energy to serving as a member of the BOE, where he hopes to advocate for initiatives that will benefit the students and the community as a whole.
