To protect your home is a “Castle Doctrine” right,
Which has been codified into the “Stand Your Ground” fright.
Reasonable force to be used on an intruder,
Now with “open gun laws” a deadly force arbiter.
Clint Eastwood’s “Make My Day” heralded in macho gun law,
A make-believe world promulgating the “quick draw.”
In the movies, fake gun deaths are not a big deal,
But in civilian life, gun violence is bloody real.
Killing by gun avoids the self-personal horror,
And not face the bloody contact most humans abhor.
Military weapons are a pox on civic life,
Rational gun laws needed to prevent civil strife.
“Why have a gun?” Because “Everyone else has one!”
A Florida waitress’s late-night lament pun.
