Thank you to all the residents of Sparta who voted on Nov. 5 and earlier.
It was wonderful to have the opportunity to participate in a democratic election.
Marjy Murphy and I wish to thank the thousands of residents who trusted us with their vote.
We are new to politics, and with your support, we aim to successfully represent the best interests of Sparta.
We encourage all who wish to keep Sparta the wonderful town it is to assist us and the town council, committees and boards to help make these desires come true.
There are many committees and groups formed being formed to keep Sparta wonderful and expand the opportunities for all to enjoy our town.
Please join us by volunteering and participating; apply via the township website.
We vow:
1) to do our best to stop nega-warehouse growth and the paving over of Sparta.
2) to protect Sparta’s precious water.
3) to promote and support the wonderful work the Environmental Commission is doing to sustain and expand Sparta’s open space.
4) to support the work of the master plan committee in developing the plan for Sparta of the future.
5) to ensure Sparta remains fiscally sound.
We additionally vow to ensure:
1) the best professionals possible are working for you, the Sparta taxpayers.
2) the best and most qualified volunteers are on the town’s statutory boards.
3) the future of Sparta as a rural community is maintained.
We ask for your support and time in helping us make this happen!
We are all Spartans, and we all live here for many of the same reasons: fresh air, open space, parks, recreational facilities, clean water, good roads, a wonderful community, and a wonderful place to live and raise a family.
We wish to thank all our competitors in a hard-run race and encourage them all to work with us to continue to maintain and improve our home called Sparta.
Also, we look forward to working with all the members of the Town Council.
All of the five 2025-26 members were elected on a Stop the Warehouse platform and we hope we can all “pull together” to be successful for the people of Sparta.
Thank you for your time and God Bless Sparta and the United States of America.
Marjy Murphy and Mark Scott
