Matthew’s Gospel’s second-greatest commandment,
Trumps our Constitution’s Second Amendment.
Both invoke passionate human emotion,
So let’s review with compassionate devotion.
“Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself”
For all humans a soulful challenge itself.
This spiritual message for peace and harmony,
A non-dualistic inclusive symphony!
“The right of the people to keep and bear arms,”
In survival times to ward off dangerous harms,
But should we have not evolved compassionately?
To avoid the use of weapons destructively.
Perhaps someday we will reconcile in peace,
Our commandment and amendment conflict to cease.
