For Sparta Town Council, I recently attended a Facebook town hall presented by the “Residents First” slate for Sparta Town Council: Angela Kasse and Celeste Luciano.
Angela and Celeste have both been active with the Sparta Planning Board and both worked to form the subcommittee to re-write the Sparta Township master plan.
Celeste has been the chair of both the board and the subcommittee.
I was most impressed that Angela and Celeste place a great amount of importance on community involvement in the master plan re-write (the current plan is 40 years old).
You can provide input into the process by completing the survey at the “Community Engagement Hub” at “spartamasterplan.com” (open until Nov. 15).
I was also impressed that the candidates do value developers, who are needed to continue Sparta’s growth.
The candidates are anti-mega-warehouses but are pro-development of the kind that fits into the character of the community (as will be envisioned in the new master plan).
Unfortunately, the two incumbents who are running to keep their seats on the council have been negative toward providing the funding for the new master plan.
I will be voting for Angela Kasse and Celeste Luciano because I trust them to be engaged in the important process of providing for our town’s future.
